Quebec’s entertainment options are about to get a big BWAAAH injection this summer, when Ubisoft Canada opens the Rabbids Amusement Center on the West Island of Montreal. Beginning in August, the Rabbids will be at the forefront of “a new type of amusement center,” according to Ubisoft Canada’s managing director, Olivier Ernst.
“The Rabbids are a perfect match with our vision for this project,” says Ernst. “Being a brand with universal appeal, it allows for the development of a physical, accessible, and truly fun experience for the entire family.
“It goes without saying that we’re thrilled to develop this major project right here at home, in Quebec,” says Ernst.
Some of you might remember that Ubisoft said they have plans to make amusement parks worldwide. Last year in September they announce they had plans to build an amusement park in Malaysia
“Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,” says Jean de Rivières, senior vice president of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, which is leading the project. Having previously produced an award-winning Rabbids dark ride for the Futuroscope theme park in France, Ubisoft Motion Pictures is creating the new park together with Malaysian theme-park developer RSG. RSG will own and operate the park, while Ubisoft will maintain creative control over the attractions.
This could be a very interesting prospect, What Intellectual Properties could they use for these amusement parks? Maybe a Rainbow Six Siege paintball park? The Crew Go Kart Course? Tell us some ideas that you would think could pass as an amusement park attraction.
